Our Core Privacy Principle: RayLabs does not sell your personal data or operate its own cross-site advertising profile. Article pages load Google AdSense for automatic advertisements, and Google may process browser and page information under its own policies. RayLabs minimizes the data it collects to what is technically necessary to operate this site.
1. Overview & Who We Are
RayLabs (https://raylabs.app) is an independent engineering journal, technical publication, and software research laboratory operated by Ray (Uray Febri Isviladinata). This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data collection, privacy protection, and transparent processing when you browse our website and use our open web utilities.
2. Information We Collect and Process
A. Cloudflare RUM and Web Analytics
Cloudflare's RUM feature is enabled for the raylabs.app zone, but we have not confirmed whether its browser beacon is injected into this Pages deployment. If the beacon runs, it sends browser performance measurements and page-visit details, including page timings, the referrer, and the landing path, to Cloudflare. Cloudflare states that the beacon does not access cookies or browser storage. Cloudflare receives the request IP during normal handling, discards it at the nearest data center, and says it is not stored in core databases or logs. RayLabs does not embed a separate analytics script.
B. Third-Party Advertising
Article detail pages load Google AdSense to deliver automatic advertisements. When the script runs, your browser connects to Google. Google may process request and page information and use cookies or similar identifiers to deliver and measure ads and, where enabled and permitted, personalize them. Google controls its own data processing and cookies. Read how AdSense uses cookies and Google's advertising privacy information, or manage personalization in Google Ads Settings. For personalized ads in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, Google requires publishers to use a Google-certified consent management platform.
C. Client-Side Preferences (Theme Storage)
When you toggle between Light and Dark mode, your preference is stored locally on your own device in your browser's localStorage (key: raylabs-theme). This data never leaves your browser and is never transmitted to our servers.
D. Voluntary Direct Communications
If you contact us directly via email (e.g., for technical corrections, feedback, or software inquiries), we receive only the information you voluntarily provide (such as your email address and message contents). We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry and never for automated marketing or data resale.
E. Poneglyph Chrome Extension
Poneglyph is a separate, client-side Chrome extension for transferring a user-selected technical article into a Medium draft. It reads the active page only after the user invokes the extension, extracting the article text, title, source URL, images, captions, and topics needed for that request. The extension processes this content in the browser and does not send it to a RayLabs-operated backend, analytics service, or advertising service.
When the user chooses to send an article, Poneglyph opens or uses medium.com and inserts the draft through the user's existing Medium browser session. Medium then handles the draft and its storage under Medium's own policies. Source images may be requested directly by the browser from their original hosts so they can be transferred into the draft. Poneglyph does not read passwords, cookies, authentication credentials, or unrelated tabs, and it never presses Medium's final Publish button.
- Local preference: The extension stores only the user's Include related stories setting in Chrome local storage.
- Temporary draft context: Detected title and topics may be kept in the Medium page's session storage so the topic helper survives the editor redirect or refresh.
- Clipboard: Topic text is written only after the user clicks a copy control. Poneglyph does not read clipboard contents.
- Limited use: Article content and the active-page URL are used only to provide the extension's article-to-Medium drafting function; they are not sold, used for advertising, or shared with human operators by RayLabs.
F. Morgans Social Automation Service (Meta & Threads Integration)
RayLabs Morgans is an automated social publishing and engineering interaction service operating on serverless Cloudflare Workers infrastructure. Morgans schedules technical updates, publishes canonical article summaries, and engages with relevant developer discussions on the official RayLabs Threads account (@raylabs.app):
- Data Stored: Threads user ID, published post IDs and cryptographic content hashes (to prevent duplicate transmissions), reply IDs handled, and OAuth access tokens with automatic expiry stored exclusively in encrypted, server-side storage (Cloudflare Workers KV).
- Purpose of Processing: Scheduling posts, avoiding duplicate broadcasts, managing reply interactions, and safely refreshing API access tokens without human intervention.
- Strict Non-Disclosure & Limited Use: Data collected through Meta's Threads API is strictly used to operate the Morgans publishing workflow. Nothing is sold, rented, monetized, or shared with third parties, data brokers, or advertising networks. Public interactions and posts on Threads remain subject to Meta's Threads Terms of Service.
- Data Deletion Requests: For step-by-step instructions on requesting immediate erasure of your data, stored tokens, and rotation pointers, please consult our dedicated User Data Deletion Instructions page or email raylabsdev@gmail.com.
3. Third-Party Services & Infrastructure
Our site relies on infrastructure and content providers. Their services receive requests directly from your browser when the related feature is used:
- Cloudflare Pages & Workers (Cloudflare, Inc.): Static site hosting, SSL encryption, edge content delivery, and serverless background orchestration.
- GitHub (GitHub, Inc. / Microsoft): Hosting open-source code repositories, issue tracking, and software releases.
- Google AdSense (Google LLC): Automatic ad delivery on RayLabs article detail pages, subject to Google's advertising and privacy policies.
- Medium (A Medium Corporation): The homepage may request original article cover images directly from Medium's image CDN. Medium handles those requests under its privacy policy.
- Meta Platforms, Inc. (Threads API): Social network integration for publishing technical articles and developer replies on Threads.
4. Your Data Protection Rights
Regardless of your jurisdiction, RayLabs honors global privacy standards, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and the Indonesian Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP No. 27/2022). You have the right to:
- Right of Access & Inquiries: Request clarification on whether any personal data concerning you is processed.
- Right of Erasure: Request the deletion of any direct email communication history or social automation identifiers we hold with you. For automated social services, see our User Data Deletion Instructions.
5. Children's Privacy
RayLabs is a technical engineering publication intended for software developers and engineering professionals. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions).
6. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect evolving site features or legal requirements. Any revisions will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
